What is Automation software?
Monitoring software also referred to as CMS software or Automation software is made to operate an Alarm Monitoring Station or Central station. Monitoring software helps you process alarms transmitted from alarm panels to receivers. The monitoring software will make necessary match between those alarm signals and your predefined database of accounts and alarm codes.
Can I start with one station of WINSAMM and add stations as my Central station grows? Yes WINSAMM is completely modular and stations can be added as needed. Contact MCDI to purchase a licence to add computers to your WinSAMM network.

Does WinSAMM network requires a server? No. At lower level of traffic, WinSAMM can function without a server. If you increase the number of stations or if the alarm traffic is intensive, it is very often preferable to install a server to get a stable and responsive network.
I have 12 operators. When I make WinSAMM unlock it asks the number of stations? What should I enter? One station = one PC no matter how many operators you have. WinSAMM is sold under license per station. There is no limitation of operators in WinSAMM, only stations are limited. Write 1 if you have one PC, 2 if you purchased a license for 2 stations.
Can two operators use WinSAMM in different languages? Yes, it is possible if you have the universal distribution of WinSAMM. Two operators in a network can use WInSAMM in different languages simultaneously. Operators on 2 shifts can select their language of display if you gave them permission. Comments entered by operators, will remain in the language used for commenting.
How can I get alarm codes for Contact ID or SIA? MCDI includes most popular codes for Contact ID and SIA in account 0 of SAMM and WinSAMM. A complete list is also included in annexes of the SAMM and WinSAMM manuals.
How is time synchronized in WinSAMM? WinSAMM follows time settings of Windows 2000 and XP within one second. If your OS is set to adjust to an atomic or network clock, you must be aware that your WinSAMM will vary accordingly. It is a good practice to verify time adjustments of all equipment regularly and at least at the beginning of each shift.
I get F1 and F2 error messages from my receiver. What is this?
The F1 and F2 are TLR+ error messages indicating that a call came in on either line 1 (F1) or Line 2 (F2), the receiver answered the call and did a series of handshake and no panels were recognized. It could be a wrong number, a fax machine calling in on a regular basis or a defective alarm panel. Normally an alarm panel would call back a few times ( default setting of many type panels is 8 times ) to try to re-transmit. This message is present in TLR+ rev. 4-5-6-7, SA-TLR+, Decrypta 1, Decrypta 2 and exprecium.
